i like his photography and the work that he does. i thought this piece was something i would do

Mike Mignola

Mike Mignola is best known for his comic book creations Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. He is considered by some to be the best designer working in comic books today. Alan Moore describes his work as a union between German Expressionism and Jack Kirby (another great comic book artist). Mignola utilizes strong graphic shapes to produce a narrative that not only carries an intriguing and entertaining story, but is beautiful to look at as well.
Mignola will use a method called blue line painting. He will print the image in non photo blue then paint using gauche. The heavy blacks are then placed on top. The first image here is done in this method.

Street Art

The sculptures are made of trash bags and taped to the vents over the subways. The train passes and the sculpture springs to life and fades back down looking like trash on the street again. The polar bear was the original concept representing global warming's effect on animals. The bear fades away when the air leaves it. Now, he does many different creatures and even an entire zoo.

Some Things are not Funny

Just a two things on the Net that I think are worth a laugh.

How to do reduction prints:

So many little flowers

I really like the mixed media this artist uses. The attention to detail is incredible. And she always makes her sculptures this detailed.

Digital Art/Photos

Brain Despain

Brian Despain is an awesome artist. Or at least that's what I think.

He is an oil painter who believes that, "No matter the piece or the end result it's the art that we do for ourselves that wholly reflects us as people."

"As an artist, and a strong believer in the words penned above I revel in interpretations of my paintings and am continually amazed at the creativity of my audience. Telephone poles become crosses, numbers take on hidden meaning, robots become angels and fish are the reincarnation of gods...

All true, all valid, yet would those interpreters feel any different should I tell them that the pole was to fill a space, 12 was just an arbitrary number, and frankly, I just happen to really like painting fish?"
